Research has shown at least 25% of people are skipping breakfast once or more during the week, with more than one in ten (13%) never eating it at all. Of the women who skip breakfast, 29 per cent miss it because they are too busy getting ready. As for the men, I cannot say as to the cause for skipping, but my spouse was guilty of it for years until he tired of my incessant nagging.
If weight loss or maintenance is a goal of yours and you are skipping breakfast, it may be worth your time to revisit this habit. Why breakfast? According to the National Weight Control Registry (NWCR), 78% of its successful members eat breakfast daily. This registry is the largest prospective investigation of long-term successful weight loss maintenance and was developed to identify and investigate the characteristics of individuals who have succeeded at long-term weight loss. I believe the saying goes something like successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. So I would advise you to choose breakfast as it’s proven to champion a healthy diet.
